Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you edit the media yourself?
It depends on the media.
All photo edits are outsourced and completed by PhotoUp for a consistent feel across all shoots, and for more timely turnaround times on all photos.
Video edits are completed in-house using Adobe Premiere Pro software.
-
When will the media be delivered to me after the shoot?
Photos and Matterport Tours will be delivered within 24 - 36 hours of shoot completion, but in some instances it may take longer for the photos to be returned from editing.
Shoots on Saturday and Sunday are subject to a 48-hour turnaround.
Videos and Floorplans are subject to a 48 - 72 hour turnaround time.
-
I need the media the same day. Can you make that work?
Same-day rush deliveries are doable for photos, but the shoot MUST be scheduled to begin no later than 11:00 am.
Videos cannot be delivered same-day, and the fastest turnaround available for videos is 24 hours.
Please note all rush deliveries are subject to an addtional fee.
-
How do you deliver the media?
Most shoots will be delivered using a program called Rela - you will create a profile in their system which can be used to access all shoots with Tyler Smiley Photography at any time as needed.
An introductory email will be sent with any media from your first shoot with access instructions. Future shoots will be delivered with a simple notification and login link.
For one-time shoots for private property owners, images will be delivered via Google Drive.
-
How can I add the media to my listing?
The easiest way to add the media from Rela to your listing is using the Bright MLS MediaSync integration. You can find instructions on how this works by watching the video at this link.. This process should take about five to ten minutes start to finish.
Alternatively, you can download the media to your computer and upload it as you normally would have. If you choose to go this route, please make sure you download the images at the highest resolution available from Rela.
-
What is your payment policy and when do you invoice me?
Payments are due 14 days from when the photos are delivered to you unless noted otherwise on your bill.
Invoices are sent electronically via Freshbooks, with all payment instructions listed. Options include credit/debit card, Venmo, or check.
You have a one-day grace period beyond your due date to submit your payment prior to the accrual of late fees. After that grace period, late fees will accrue at a rate of $25 per day the invoice is late.
-
How far out do you book shoots?
Ideally, shoots are scheduled at least one week in advance, but in some instances last minute requests can be accommodated depending on scheduling.
The goal in scheduling is always to work around your needs and timing as much as possible, finding a date and time that suit you the best.
-
Do you offer any other services to help with my business?
Absolutely!
First off, you can license any images or videos that are found on my YouTube channel and non-real estate social media for your marketing campaigns.
I also offer marketing design services at $75 per hour to help create marketing pieces to help grow your business and reach a broader audience.
-
I want to purchase a settlement gift. How much notice do you need?
It depends.
If you order something I have on-hand, it can be delivered to you same-day if needed and requested.
If you need a special order or a print-on-demand product, my recommendation is to give yourself three to five weeks to account for potential shipping and production delays.
-
Do you have a portfolio of work I can look at before booking?
You can view some samples of past work on my website by clicking here.
Additionally, you can view samples of past listing videos on my YouTube Channel here.
-
What type of rights come with the media you give me?
When you book a shoot through me, you receive usage rights only.
With these rights, you are able to use the images to market the home for sale or for rent on any platform you use (MLS, VRBO, Zillow, etc.).
Owernship rights to the photos remains with me as the photographer.
-
Why do you not grant me ownership rights of the media you give me?
By retaining ownership I am guaranteed the right to use them myself to market my services to other prospective clients. In this business, I need the most comprehensive portfolio I can get, and that means leveraging as much past work as possible in marketing materials.
Second, and probably even more importantly, it ensures my work cannot be resold for profit to a third party. This is a business and my livelihood - retaining ownership of the media is how I protect both of those things.
-
Can you create a tailored service if I need something specific?
Absolutely!
I understand the services I offer may not be the best fit for everyone, and I’d be happy to work with you to create a custom service for your listing if needed.
To do so, you will need to describe the property so I can make recommendations to you for photos, and also outline any other media you are looking to have in the listing (ex - Matterport, drone video, etc.).
From there, I will put a quote together for you, and if satisfactory, we can proceed with scheduling the shoot for your listing.
-
What if I more photos or see some that I would like reshot?
In the event you need additional photos taken after your shoot, or if you find some that you would like redone, I am happy to work with you on that.
These type of requests are accommodated based on when I am next in proximity to your shoot due to the small number of images being taken - you can submit a request, and I will let you know the next time I will be nearby so they can be taken.
PLEASE NOTE: All reshoots and additional image requests will be billed at a rate of $5 per image taken at that time.
-
How far are you willing to travel for a listing shoot?
I will go anywhere on the Delmarva Peninsula for a listing shoot if needed.
That said, a travel charge will be added to your invoice for any listings that are 45 minutes or more from Rehoboth Beach.
